Install flash player without administrative privileges

install flash player image In Schools, offices,  cyber-cafe and in some other places we are some times bound to use the computer without the administrative privileges  as a limited or guest user. If the flash player is already installed in this account by the administrator then there is no problem to access websites with flash contents but if not, oh…  it’s a really painful experience specially if you are a youtube like website fan. I had suffered the problem for a while since my university had a high speed internet connection and as a limited XP  user, I was unable to watch and download flash content from  websites. But there is actually a way to install the flash player with out administrative rights and enjoy and download flash content and flash video.

Installing Flash player on Mozilla Firefox version:

The following guideline works for Firefox 2,  Firefox 3, Firefox 3.5 and Firefox 3.6, Firefox Portable edition (versions 3, 3.5 and 3.6) .

1. Download the file flashplayer-win.xpi from the internet (http://www.4shared.com/account/file/59798139/a1032b4/flashplayer-win.html)

2. Change the extension of the file from .xpi to .zip.

3. Now unzip the renamed file.

4. In the extracted folder find the following 2 files: NPSWF32.dll and flashplayer.xpt.
5. Ignore all other files and copy these 2 files.

6. Now to go to your Mozilla Firefox directory (located depending on where you saved it).

7. Now find the “plugin” directory under’ firefox\plugin ‘and just paste those two files.
8. Restart Mozilla firefox and enjoy the Flash videos.

Installing Flash player on  Google Chrome :

1. Download the file flashplayer-win.xpi from the internet (http://www.4shared.com/account/file/59798139/a1032b4/flashplayer-win.html)

2. Change the extension of the file from .xpi to .zip

3. Now unzip the renamed file.

4. In the extracted folder find the following 2 files: NPSWF32.dll and flashplayer.xpt.
5. Ignore all other files and copy these 2 files.

6. Now open up Local Settings>Application Data>Google>Chrome>Application>your version of Google Chrome>Plugins. If there is no plugins folder, create it.

7. And paste the two files(NPSWF32.dll and flashplayer.xpt) in this plugin folder.

8. Restart your Google chrome browser and enjoy flash video and contents.
