Polyphonic Ringtones for Nokia

The new cellphones support  mp3 to be set as ring tones that allow you to play the actual recording of a song. Still there are plenty of cell phones still use the polyphonic ring tones. The polyphonic ring tones give approximate instrumental melody and harmony of a music. If your phone supports the polyphonic ring tones then you have the freedom to receive the ring tones from other cellphones which will cost the sender the standard cost of a test SMS. If the phone is blue-tooth supported then transfer the ring tones for free. In either of these 2 cases your options are limited. So to enjoy the full freedom use the composer of your cell phone and compose a ring tone for yourself.

The following are some codes for polyphonic ring tones that you might use for your Nokia handset(s).  Remember your options are always boundless. Do some googling and find the one you want for the type of cell phone you possess….

Windows XP — Hidden features and applications

A lot of hidden features and applications comes with the Windows XP operating system. Some of them are simply funny, sometimes  useful and some of them are sometimes life saving !!!. Average XP users don’t know ( or don’t know all of them) about these hidden features and utilities that come with the XP. Here are some of the hidden features that will help the users to maximize their Windows XP using experience.

IExpress — A hidden Install Creator package :  Probably you have used different install   creators, either commercial or free versions. Do you know that the XP itself provides a program install creator? It is in the C:\WINDOWS\system32 directory and if you simply type  ” iexpress in the  run command box. The setup program created by IExpress can be an .inf file or an executable program depending on the choices one makes while creating installation package. IExpress automatically removes the setup files after installation, saving the user time and frustration.  This installation creator gives different options for the install creator : Package title, Confirmation prompt, License agreement (totally customizable) , post installation command , windows visibility during installation (default, hidden, minimized & maximized) , finish massage , Package name etc….. Enjoy using this free installation creator….

visit http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd346760.aspx to get the detailed instruction on how to use the Iexpress ….

Folder Name — There are some reserved special file names that are used by the XP itself. So these names can’t be used as a file name/ folder name etc. For example CON, AUX, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, PRN, NUL are reserved words by the XP. So you can’t use any of these word to name your file or folder. If you find yourself in a situation when you can’t name a file/folder(or the XP doesn’t permit you) , don’t assume it’s  a fault of the OS. Simply try something else….

Microsoft Security Essentials — Free Antivirus by Microsoft

microsoft-security-essentials imageMicrosoft has released an Anti virus Software and it’s free! It is quite a news to the techno-concerned people – both  for Microsoft Lovers and Anti-Microsoftist!!! . First, Microsoft has released the Anti virus, which is the first anti virus release by this software corporation. The people who are just happy to always have Microsoft products- free or not, will say that, Microsoft understand the Windows Operating system better that any one else. So the Anti virus released by the Microsoft will definitely be more effective and efficient that any other anti virus. Let’s hope that those Microsoft lovers are right this time. The need for a reliable anti virus  that will work on viruses, worms and other malicious coding and in the mean time will not slow down the performance of the computer is felt by all. People seem to switch over different anti viruses so frequently and either complain that, it can’t detect all the viruses or it’s slowing sown my PC. So we were expecting that Microsoft will come as an Olympian Hero in the near future. Let’s hope for the best. It seems like, Microsoft has gone one step further- by offering the Anti virus for free.

The techno-people and basic computer & internet users who always speak against Microsoft are arguing that, it’s another Huge-name-zero-came product. They think that the free anti viruses, those are already in market and available for free download, are just fine. They are even questioning: “why Microsoft came at the competition at a last moment”. They even shown doubt whether it’ll be free or not later if it gains popularity. Some of them are even questioning the reliability of MORRO, which is the earlier release of the  present version. No blame for them- they are quite correct in a sense.

Install flash player without administrative privileges

install flash player image In Schools, offices,  cyber-cafe and in some other places we are some times bound to use the computer without the administrative privileges  as a limited or guest user. If the flash player is already installed in this account by the administrator then there is no problem to access websites with flash contents but if not, oh…  it’s a really painful experience specially if you are a youtube like website fan. I had suffered the problem for a while since my university had a high speed internet connection and as a limited XP  user, I was unable to watch and download flash content from  websites. But there is actually a way to install the flash player with out administrative rights and enjoy and download flash content and flash video.

Installing Flash player on Mozilla Firefox version:

The following guideline works for Firefox 2,  Firefox 3, Firefox 3.5 and Firefox 3.6, Firefox Portable edition (versions 3, 3.5 and 3.6) .

1. Download the file flashplayer-win.xpi from the internet (http://www.4shared.com/account/file/59798139/a1032b4/flashplayer-win.html)

2. Change the extension of the file from .xpi to .zip.

3. Now unzip the renamed file.

4. In the extracted folder find the following 2 files: NPSWF32.dll and flashplayer.xpt.
5. Ignore all other files and copy these 2 files.

6. Now to go to your Mozilla Firefox directory (located depending on where you saved it).

7. Now find the “plugin” directory under’ firefox\plugin ‘and just paste those two files.
8. Restart Mozilla firefox and enjoy the Flash videos.

Installing Flash player on  Google Chrome :

1. Download the file flashplayer-win.xpi from the internet (http://www.4shared.com/account/file/59798139/a1032b4/flashplayer-win.html)

7. And paste the two files(NPSWF32.dll and flashplayer.xpt) in this plugin folder.

8. Restart your Google chrome browser and enjoy flash video and contents.

An alternative way to hide your folder

Most of the time you hide your folder in Windows XP using the Tools –>Folder Options –>View –> Do not show hidden files and folder radio button combining with the folder–> Right click–> Hidden Attribute .

If you are little more serious about hiding your folder, most probably you are using a folder lock or folder hide software. Okay, most of this software serve your purpose.

But do you know there is a tricky way to hide any folder in your windows operating system? To hide your folder first rename it using Alt and 0160 as the file name. You’ll notice that the file won’t have any name since alt + 0160 was used as the file name. Now go to the properties of this folder and select customise tab and then go to change icon. As an icon, select a blank icon as shown in the following picture. Put this folder at your desired place ( Hard drive location) and it will be hidden from others but you can access it pretty easily.

This tips word for  Win98/ME,Windows XP, Windows Vista/ 7. But keep it mind that, this is not a secured way to hide folder. With it you should not hide a folder you want absolute security.
